The Good News Has Come

   Christmas, 2016

“Father…..My prayer is not for them alone, I pray for those who believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as You are in me and I am in You. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that You have sent me. I have given them the glory that You gave me, that they may be one as we are one – I in them and You in me – so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that You sent me and have loved them even as You have loved me. Father, I want those You have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because You loved me before the creation of the world. Righteous Father, though the world does not know You, I know You, and they know that You have sent me. I have made You known to them, and continue to make You known in order that the love You have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them.” (John 17:20-26 (NIH))

The good news proclaimed by angels and by Jesus is clear in the mystical prayer by Jesus at the Last Supper. This truly good news, that we are one in Jesus and therefore one in the Father, is seldom talked about – it is too good to be true; therefore, despite the words by Jesus, and it is ignored because — who could believe such nonsense? We are one in God? impossible! If we are one in the Father, as Jesus is one in the Father, what was the life of Jesus all about? what about sin? Aren’t we all sinners, condemned to an eternity of pain?

Ahh, the good news proclaimed by Jesus: we are one in him, and one in the

Father. Breath deeply, and let God in, for Jesus has spoken his crowning message: we are one in God, we just need open our eyes (and hearts) to see this truth that has always been true.

Read the above prayer by Jesus again, and perhaps, just a little, open your heart to maybe Jesus was revealing the Real Good News: we are all one, all one in Jesus, all one in the Father, all one in God. Could it be??

Merry Christmas, one and all.
