Prayer of St. Francis (12)

Where there is darkness, light (2)

“So God created humanity

In the Image of God,

In the Image of God ,

God created them,

Male and female God created them.”

                               Genesis 1:27

We are the Image of God

This meditation continues on the line from the Prayer of St. Francis where we are exhorted to be the Light unto the darkness.

We are the very Image of God, the creator and the power of our universe and All that Is. We have the innate ability to act as Jesus: “If anyone say to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and cast into the sea’, and does not doubt in their heart, but believes what they say is going to happen, it will be granted them.” (Mark 11:23) This capability lies in all of us, even YOU; yes YOU. We were all created with the creative power of the universe within us, as we are the very Image of God, the creator of All.

We ask, ‘Where does this power reside?’ Jesus also told us the answer to that question: “Neither shall they say, See here! Or see there! For the kingdom of God is within you.” (Luke 17:21). But I can hear the question now: “Within ME?” Yes, within YOU, lying as your soul, that part of you that is, as the Course in Miracles says, “(that is) still as God created me”. You have this enormous power that lies within, ready and eager to be tapped to show the world the Face of God that is you, and you alone. There is no one in all of creation that ever has been or ever will be the same as you. You the gift of the God to the World, a unique Being that is meant to shine with the Love of God into our world that seems to have so much darkness.

Being a Light unto our world is truly a simple thing: it means being the love of God, living this beautiful prayer to the fullest. This prayer spells out what being a Light to the world means: to give love, to give faith, to give joy, to console, to understand, to pardon, and to give of ourselves to others. This life does not require great schooling or learning, it just requires us to give ourselves to the growth of others, while maintaining the Joy of God within our own Being,, to know, understand, and accept all that we are: a unique facet of the very Being of God.

A unique glow of God was made to shine through each person alive; and it is in the growth cycles of our world, our humanity, that the glow will be made manifest as a brighter and brighter source of Life for all to see. Someday it will blaze over all the earth, but not yet. Each of us has our part in bringing that glow to exist on this blue ball of ours we call home. Whether we will make it this time around before we destroy our blue ball is up to us; each of us has their part to be if humanity is to rise to the level that God is drawing us to become.

Do we accept the call of our birth?

“Neither shall they say,

See here! Or see there!

For the kingdom of God

Is within you.”

                                    (Luke 17:21).

Questions to Ponder

All are placed here for a mission. Do you accept the call of God for this mission? (It has been and will continue to be shown to you, whether you see it as a call to a mission or not.)

It is never too late to start. God calls you, and me; each person on earth is called, in their own unique fashion.

Meditation

“Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
Where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
To be consoled as to console,
To be understood as to understand,
To be loved as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive;
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
It is in dying to self that we are born to eternal life.”
