God is Love (4)
1 John 4:8

Love is kind (2)
1 Corinthians 13

We have talked about how kind God has been to humanity as a whole, and now I want to talk about how kind God has been to each one of us individually.
Each of us, as individuals, have benefited from the kindness and goodness God has bestowed on humanity as a whole. We all find delight in the wonders of our universe, perhaps the only creatures to do so in the universe, and certainly the only ones on a small blue planet. The wonders of the sky, the feel of the cooling breeze, the delight of a good meal, the smell of the rose; all of these delight us and bring a sense of peace to our minds. No other creature here on our planet appreciate the wonders of the universe at the level that you and I do as individuals. We have all tasted Love, but then many other creatures mate for life and have a true bonding with their mate. We, on the other hand, are able to reach out and find and taste the wonders of the universal love that transcends all, not just our mate if we have one, but the universal love not just of fellow humans but the feelings that bind us in nature and the universe, as well as other creatures.
In general, those who read this have led sheltered lives, living in warmth or moderate temperatures, a place to sleep at night, and good food on the table, so we can feel the kindness of God in our everyday life.
But what about others that are in pain, who have no place to sleep, those who have fled for their lives from death and destruction, hoping to find a place on our earth to exist in peace? Has God been kind to them? These are hard questions to answer. God’s response is to place these individuals into the care of those who are the Image of God (if they know it or not), and who will hopefully respond as the Image of God – you and me. We are the response of God in these situations. The kindness of God is to present opportunities for you and I to respond as God’s Presence in our world, to act as the provider and the physical reality of God in difficult situations.
The kindness of God in the difficulties in our world is to bring these difficulties to the attention of the hands of God. The question remains: will we respond as the Face of God or will we fail in this response? God has done the part of Love Divine, that is, the Spirit of Love, our response is the physical reality of the Spirit of Love in the flesh.
So if what appears to be the failure of the Kindness of God is present, what we are seeing is not the failure of God, but the failure of the physical arm of God in the world, the failure of you and me and other humans to act. God does not act in the physical world directly, but only through the response of those in humanity that have been made conscious, by the kindness of the Spirit of God, of the places where the Love of God should be made manifest.
Is God kind? The answer is 0bvious: God is infinitely and eternally kind to all. What our response is to the situations is the outcome that becomes physical. If our response of one of fear and greed, then the kindness of God is not made manifest. If, on the other hand, if our response is one love and openness, then the kindness of God is made manifest, and the Love of God is made present.
But it does require you and I to respond to the urging of the Love of God to have the Love and Kindness of God made manifest. It is truly up to you and I.
What is your response?

“God restores my soul.
God leads me in paths of righteousness
For God’s name’s sake.”
                                    Psalm 23

Meditation

My Gentle Blanket of Peace, You cover me and keep the terrors of the night away from my door. I can sleep peacefully, knowing that Your Love will shelter me from harm. Even when I transition from the physical plane, I will rest easily in the shelter of Your spiritual arms. I awaken each day in the Joy of being once more in Your presence, lighting my way each day in Love again. I rejoice in the Love that seems to wash over me, giving me the lightness of heart that brightens each day. I am constantly astounded at the breadth of Love that seems to surprise me at every turn, and my gratitude flows freely in warmth and overflowing love. I know that You will enlighten my mind to see the way of peace at every moment, and I will respond to the best that I am able at that moment and every moment. I am grateful for this opportunity to be Your Face in our world, to be able to lesson the pain in this small portion of Your Universe.
