The Purpose of Creation

Pondering’s
My last article had several short discussions I would like to enlarge upon. The first of these is the purpose of creation. I have always wondered why God would create anything, what the purpose of creation really is. I have read many treatise about this, from some of the greatest theologians in the past to many of the great philosophers. None of them satisfied me, always coming back, to me, as to having no true reason for creation. After all, one of the basic premises of God is that God had no beginning. Then the question arises: why wait until now to start something?
Then about 15 years ago I came across the ‘Conversation With God‘ series, at that time only three books, but eventually reaching nine books. These books, according to the author, Neale Donald Walsch, effectively wrote themselves. Neale was very frustrated with his life, and wrote an angry letter to God. God answered, by causing his hand to write words he had no idea about. This continued for about 15 years, resulting in nine books.
This is my belief. I would ask that you think about this, as it is the same in general for as stated in the ‘Conversation With God‘ series of Books, but developed in a more complete sense than those works. Accept what you can, and file the rest away, perhaps as possibilities.
One of the core ideas presented early in the series was a discussion of the purpose of creation. These ideas presented was the first time that something made sense, even, as I had said previously, this was one of my greatest questions I had tossed at God over the years, and never had found an answer that seemed logical and truly realistic.
The great question to me was always: ‘Why?’ ‘What is the purpose of life?’ Was there any real purpose? Now, I know, many answers have been provided, but none of them made any sense in the basic knowledge that God is eternal, truly had no beginning, and will have no end. So: Why Now? Why would God wait, if God waited, until this instant in eternity for us, or in my concern, me, to exist?
Eventually, many years ago, I arrived at some vague concepts: Perhaps God did not wait, but always, for all eternity, has made this cycle of life somewhere, or many somewheres, an ongoing Event that had a purpose that required this type of “creation” to exist, perhaps as a core part of God, the Eternal Wisdom. As I pondered this thought, I began to see I was way over what I had been taught, and needed some guidance to make sense of my thinking, which would not go away..
Then I was led, in 2000, to ‘Conversation With God’, book 1. I was given no choice: ‘buy that book’ was a compulsion so great I had no choice. So I bought that book, read it quickly, then read books 2 and 3. Together they forms answers to many of the basic questions I had about life and the universe.
What struck me most forcibly was the common-sense answer to many of my questions I had filed away in my Question file of life.
Principle among these Questions was:
“What is the Purpose of Life?”
The answer, as all of God’s answers are, is simple, but absolutely breathtaking:
We are God’s experiential arm.
I will repeat that: we form the Experience of God, in a dualistic and relative world. We are the ones to understand Love in relation to Fear, Good in relation to Evil, Up in relation to Down, Oneness in relation to Separateness. Only in the concrete world of our universe can God experience, not just know, but experience, the Nature of God. Only through branches of God, can all that we are flow into the true Nature of God.
Yes, we are branches of God. At the basic nature of our being, our soul, we are part of the nature of God, the Eternal Being, our Eternal Wisdom, the All-In-All. We have willingly accepted the seemingly limiting creation of this 4 dimensional world, as part of the Being of God, to be part of the totality that God is: fully experiencing all that is the Nature of God, the full experience of Love.
We truly have a purpose in this world, and we may experience this journey as many times as we wish, for all eternity. Our task, as explained on Conversation With God, is to stretch our being from a raw beginning of no knowledge of God to that equal to Jesus, able to be all things to all people. This may take many many lifetimes, but that is our soul’s agenda.
Is it possible? I believe it is, I suspect we know many that have crossed our lives that are on that level, perhaps not at the power that Jesus portrayed, but at a hidden power that portrayed that same level. My wife’ sister, Maureen (Mahoney) Rogers is, in my opinion, one of those. She is 6 years older than my wife, and was the perfect daughter and sister, always treating my wife as an equal, no matter what my wife, the spirited third child, did. She was a brilliant scholar in school. She fell in love at 15, but they waited until Tom had completed his Cast Guard enlistment before they married. They raised 10 children. Tom and Maureen were our closest friends, as we spent almost every Friday evening with them, having our next five children at about the same time, with their youngest daughter born on the same day as our first son, our number five. We are close to all of the children, and their children, and they confirmed she never had to raise her voice, just a look or a firmness in her tone, or a tapping of her foot, was sufficient. Today Maureen is comatose with Alzheimer’s disease, but during the 6 years or so as it crept up on her, she never once complained. She certainly knew, and fully accepted what was and is happening. She had read all the books available, and was aware as long as she could be, of what was occurring. Again, she never complained or fretted about it. She presently lives in a room just off the kitchen of her youngest daughter, a nurse. She has 24 hour care, and is still a beautiful woman despite all that has occurred. Truly a spirit that we would all wish for in our life. Of the ten children, one as passed from a brain tumor, but all are a deeply loving and caring group who truly enjoy one another.
We are a part of the nature of our Eternal Spirit, what we call God, or any other name, if we know it or not. All is part of the vast realm of experience that forms the heart of God, all encompassed in the Love that is Eternal. That is why there can not be a hell, because we are all playing the part we have chosen before coming here. Moving from one level to another in a series of living a relative life in a dualistic nature to living in total oneness while remaining who we are, then repeating the experience again, perhaps at a different level.
Meditation
God, my Eternal Wisdom, what a wonder we see as we exist in this world of experience. We form the heart of your Love, as only with not-love, or fear, can there be something called Love, and then only can we truly experience the all-encompassing Love that is You, and me, and know it for what it is, as we have tasted fear, in all its fullness. I am truly grateful for the opportunity to experience all of this, for only with these experiences do I know what a Joy I have being with you for all eternity.
