God is Love (34)

                   1 John 4:8

Love Never Fails (3)

                                    1 Corinthians 13

The State of the World (2)

How can we believe that God truly loves us when we look at the state of the world? We see wars, starvation, refugees, rampant disregard of human rights, and so much suffering among not only humans but it seems like all species. How can this be the creation of a loving God?

This question has been asked from the beginning of human reasoning. That question is why we have built up the power image of God, despite all that we claim that God is Love, our image of God in our hearts remains one of fear, demanding, strict judgments, willing to punish for eternity the slightest infraction. How else can we meld the fear and destruction we see in our world with a concept of an eternal power. We say in our minds that God is love, but the pain in our world shows us a different God instead.

But the world that we see is but an illusion of the reality that exists. God indeed is a God of love, and we, as individuations of the God of love, are meant to illustrate that love by making it real in the physical world. We have the eternal goal of seeing ‘not love’ (the pain in our world that seems so overwhelming) and turning that pain into ‘love’, by our works here, as part of the ongoing eternal existence of God. We are to become the working of God in the physical plane, we are to be Love Incarnate, made real and palpable right NOW, the only time that exists.

There is only NOW. The past is gone and cannot be changed, the future is not yet and may never be, all we have is NOW. This very instant, the nanosecond of time that is NOW. We are to be Love NOW. Not tomorrow, not yesterday, but NOW.

Love is a verb, an action, something that creates Love as an ongoing feature. Love begets Love, each instant of NOW. Love is a self-perpetuating action, and that action we have termed God, or whatever term we want to us for the ongoing energy that is life and all that is, the Alpha and the Omega. Our task is to take the illusion of ‘not love’ that we are immersed within and turn that ‘not love’ into the reality of Love. That is the purpose of the illusion of pain within which we are surrounded. Love is never real unless it is loving something into being; the presence of ‘not love’, the pain of the world, is meant to be Loved into creation by our actions of love and compassion.

Love is an action, never a noun or an object. Unless we are loving something into being, we are not loving. Now loving something into being is mental as well as physical, so if we maintain a truly loving attitude towards life and all within, we are turning the energy of our world towards Love, and fulfilling our mission on earth.

We are to be Love personified. We are to be Love NOW, at all times and places. That is what all those we call saints and we admire have done in the past. Their heroic deeds have been simple: the have Loved the unlovable, they have put love first and foremost in their lives. They have usually not called what they do love, but compassion, freedom, justice, and more terms that all mean love.

What is our response? How do we turn our lives into meeting that call to Love? Not just on occasion, but every day, every hour, every minute?

Why, my soul are you downcast?

Why so disturbed within me?

Put you hope in God,

For I will yet praise Him,

My Savior and my God.

                   Psalm 42: 5

Meditation

O Holy One, the Life that is within me, I bow in gratitude for this opportunity to be Your existence in our physical world. I place myself in Your care, and ask only that I may be the source of Your Love wherever I may be. I do not know or understand what and how I can be of service to Your fountain of Love in our world, but I ask only that to be a source of salve to the pain in our world that You place me in. I am grateful for this opportunity to be of service and I hold Your Love in my heart to share with all.

If this posting proves useful to you, I would appreciate it if you would share it.
