Death is the Greatest Blessing (3)
“There’ll be two dates
on your tombstone, and all
your friends will read them.
But all that’s goona matter
Is that little dash between ‘em.”
Kevin Welch
Life is Eternal
When looked at from the viewpoint of our soul, life is transmuted from the state of physicality to one of spirit at the time of what we call ‘death’, in a similar manner to what occurred when our being transmuted from the spirit world to the physical world at our birth. Life does not vanish; too many ‘near death’ experiences have been recorded that are remarkably similar, especially those of very young children, for most rational folks to deny at least the possibility of Life after life. Young children have not been programmed with way adults have, so that to say that is it only the programmed mind denying death that produces ‘near death’ experiences does not compute with the stories of the very young, under 5 years of age.
“For now we see through a glass darkly,
but then face to face.”
St Paul
We are not ‘returning to heaven’, or even entering heaven at this time. No; Jesus made it clear that we have heaven here, and it is ours when we choose, at all times, when he said “And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God would come, he answered them and said, ‘The kingdom of God comes not with observation: Neither shall they say, ‘Lo here!” or ‘there!’ for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.” Luke 17:20-21. We shall be like St. Paul states: “For now we see through a glass darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part, but then shall I know even as also I am known.” St. Paul understood: We shall be truly face to face with God, outside of the limits of time, when we transition to that state of no-time.
Face to Face with God
Even though the kingdom of God lies within us, we are limited by time itself from being able to ‘see clearly’. We carry that kingdom in our soul, the very Image of God, but our limited ‘eyesight’, or ‘soulsight’, is constricted by time, and cannot see God face to face as God truly is, as God exists throughout all of time for eternity; we can only see the Now of God or a time-strained portion of the Face of God, strained by our capability to see only this moment, Now, of eternity. Only when we are not constrained by the limits of physicality or time can we begin to understand and see the True Timeless Face of God.
The Bliss of God
Thus we see the bliss of God, in the infinite entirety, only when we are not in a state of physicality. Only in that ‘other’ state of non-physicality, outside of the limits of time, is it possible to enter into that fullness of awareness. But even here, as long as we retain our individual soul-being of body, mind and soul, we are like the drop in the ocean not being fully aware of the magnitude of the ocean, but only of our own part and the part of the ocean that is nearby.
I will add, that from various discussions, especially in the series of books by Neale Donald Walsch entitled “Conversations with God”, nine books total of questions being asked and God answering, that the God we struggle to see in the cosmos of our universe, is but a drop in the totality of God in the infinite. That is the God that we spend all of eternity, backwards and forward, becoming assimilated with and merging in that infinity’s infinity.
Questions to Ponder
How do you see yourself merging with that kingdom of God that has always been within you?
Does the thought of meeting God face to face in eternity stir anything within you?
Meditation
Wisdom On High, you have filled us with eternal knowledge, eternal power, eternal life, when you filled us with the Kingdom of God. I see that this is the essence of eternal life, and can never be repealed, as it is the framework of our existence. I am awed by the elegance of life itself, as it is entwined with the eternal essence of the nature of God itself. I am grateful for this opportunity to have some awareness of the beauty of the possibilities of life as expressed in Your Oneness. I ask that You keep me open to Your opportunities that You constantly offer me, and keep me willing to accept each chance to grow in understanding Your Love.
Next we shall look at why the “when” of death: All transition at the perfect time: at the time that the person has fulfilled their purpose in life.
